AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Following the 4 July shooting at Los Angeles International Airport, officials have ordered additional police patrols at the airport.

The move will double the amount of patrols at the airport and will see the introduction of off-duty Los Angeles police officers, until a class of new cadets is available in January 2003.

The police officers will be located in the airport's unsecured lobbies, ticket counters and outdoor arrival and departure areas.
