Continental Airlines mechanics oppose contract with foreign vendor

Continental Airlines' Teamster mechanics are reportedly opposed to the airline's plan of subcontracting to a foreign vendor.

The airline has recently announced a ten-year contract agreement with foreign-owned Cascade Aerospace, for aircraft maintenance. However the mechanics - who are currently in negotiations with Continental for a national contract on the same type of aircraft maintenance work - believe that the contract will undercut union jobs.
