An aircraft operated by Poland's LOT Airlines mistakenly landed at a military airfield yesterday (30 July).

The aircraft - on a flight to Russia's Baltic enclave of Kaliningrad, with 41 passengers on board - landed at a military airfield in the village of Chkalovsk, a few kilometres away from its intended destination of Khrabovo civilian airport. The pilots of the aircraft apparently thought that the airfield was the international part of the civilian airport.

Russian law enforcement agencies stated that the aircraft would be allowed to continue its flight after investigations were conducted, reported Russia's Itar-Tass news agency.
