Southwest Airlines to install IBM's self-service check-in kiosks

Southwest Airlines has formed an agreement with IBM to install more than 250 airport self-service check-in kiosks across its network.

Under the agreement IBM will design the self-service application, and manufacture and install the systems at Southwest Airlines' largest destination airports.

The kiosks will initially be installed at Dallas' Love Field airport, with additional kiosks planned for San Antonio, Phoenix, Nashville, Houston Hobby, Chicago Midway, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, Sacramento, Orlando and Baltimore/Washington.

The contract, valued at USD2m, may also be expanded over the next year.
