China Southern Airlines engineers have reportedly created the first Aircraft Remote Diagnosing & Real Tracking System (ACRDRTS) in the People's Republic of China.
The ACRDRTS system is designed to accurately decode and analyse an aircraft's technical information transmitted from the air to ground in real time via the Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS). Maintenance staff can then immediately recommend troubleshooting methods from the maintenance manuals.
The system will initially be installed on China Southern Airlines' Boeing 777 fleet, and then extended to the airline's Airbus A320 and its future Boeing 737-800 and 747-400 (freighter) fleet.
