AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2002 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Spirit Airlines will increase services at Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport in its spring schedule. From 9 May 2002 the airline will resume its daily service between Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as expanding its service between Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles. On 23 May, Spirit Airlines will add a third daily flight from Fort Lauderdale to Detroit Metro.

Delta Connection has launched three daily nonstop round trip jet flights between Florence, S.C. and Atlanta. The new service will be operated by Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA). The route will be served by Canadair regional jet (CRJ) aircraft.

China Northern Airlines will launch three new air routes linking Liaoning province in northeast China and Japan, on 19 April 2002. The airline will operate three regular flights which will link the port city of Dalian, in Liaoning, with Tokyo; Dalian with Nagoya; and the province's capital city of Shenyang with Tokyo. There will be return flights from all three destination cities. The routes will be served by Airbus A300 aircraft.

German airline Lufthansa is reportedly planning to operate direct flights between China's Shanghai Municipality and Munich, Germany five times per week. Airbus A340-300 aircraft will be utilised for the flights.
