The Icelandic flag carrier Icelandair and the privately owned Icelandic airline Air Atlanta have agreed to lease unused aircraft to Aeromar Airlines, a Dominican Republic-based airline.

Icelandair and Air Atlanta will each provide one aircraft to Aeromar Airlines for flights between the Dominican Republic and the US. The lease period is 18 months. The value of the contract was not revealed.

Icelandair says the deal is a result of less demand for seats on the airline's regular flights since 11 September, reports Reuters.
