Malaysia is reportedly increasing its efforts to set up a 'watchdog' body to oversee the legal and security frameworks of the country's civil aviation industry.
The independent body would include representatives from the Transport Ministry, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, the Department of Civil Aviation and several other government-related divisions.
The plan to set up an independent body, expected to be called the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), first emerged in 1999 and was eventually included in the country's National Aerospace Industry Blueprint, reported the Business Times.
