US aircraft manufacturer, Boeing Co delivered its first Boeing 747-400ER aircraft to Qantas Airways yesterday (30 October).

The aircraft is Boeing's first redesign of the 747 aircraft since 1993. The aircraft now features an additional fuel tank and stronger fuselage and landing gear, enabling it to carry 15,000 more pounds of people and cargo and fly about 410 nautical miles further.

The aircraft - which was received by actor John Travolta, the Australian airline's ambassador - is the first of six to be delivered to the airline.
