Los Angeles City Council has voted to support a congressional bill to cap annual passenger traffic at Los Angeles International Airport at 78m passengers annually.

The measure by Congresswoman Maxine Waters would require federal transportation officials to reject any future expansion plans at the airport that would increase the yearly passenger load above 78m.

The city had already imposed the same 78m limit, but agreed to support the bill to "keep faith with the community", reported Reuters.
