America West Airlines has submitted an application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for the currently unused slots between Las Vegas and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The airline has reportedly asked the DOT to recall the two "beyond perimeter" exemption slots from National Airlines, and immediately reallocate these slots to America West to restore full service between Washington National and McCarren International Airport established by order of the DOT in July 2000.

If the DOT approves the application, the airline will immediately commence additional services on the route.
