US Airways employees ratify new contract agreements

US Airways passenger service agents have ratified a new contract agreement with the airline.
The group includes reservations agents, ticket counter and gate agents, and employees at US Airways Club locations. The agreement was approved by 75% of those participating in the ballot, which was overseen by the American Arbitration Association.
The new contract, which runs until 1 January 2009, sets a top salary rate of USD20.05 per hour - an 8% cut. Salaries will begin increasing on 1 January 2005, rising in increments by 8.75% over the next four years. The employees agreed to other concessions - most of them temporary - in the areas of healthcare, overtime pay, vacation pay and holidays.
The airline's mechanics and related workers have also ratified a contract agreement with the airline. The agreement was approved by 57% of those voting.
