Police have released an image of the man who carried out an unarmed raid on a security van at London's Gatwick Airport, UK on 22 August 2002.

At about 0730 local time the robber - posing as a security guard - stole about GBP250,000-worth of foreign cash from a blue Brink's Limited security van located near the South Terminal. The thief reportedly punched the security guard in the face and sprayed him with an unknown substance before making off on foot with the foreign currency from more than 12 different countries in varying denominations.

A CD-fit of the robber - based on a description given by the 41-year-old Brink's security van driver attacked during the incident - has been released. The suspect is described as white, tanned, 5ft 10in tall, with a goatee beard. He is believed to be in his thirties and was dressed in a light blue shirt and dark blue trousers, and wore a distinctive blue security guard's helmet.

Detectives also want to speak to the driver of a Renault Clio 172 with false number plates which was seen in the service tunnel on the morning of the robbery, reported PA News.
