The opening of Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Thailand, may be delayed because of a slow start to a number of construction projects.

According to the Deputy Transport Minister, the construction of runways and passenger terminal buildings will be completed to schedule. However 12 other projects, such as cargo warehouses, catering facilities, maintenance facilities and fuel systems, are yet to commence.

The Airports of Thailand (AOT) has yet to select any companies to construct the projects, thus raising concerns about the opening of the airport, which is scheduled for mid-2005, reported the Nation.
