SAS allows travellers to use mobile phones during flight

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Travellers on Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) flights may now use their mobile phones in flight despite rules against doing so.
The Scandinavian carrier has lifted its ban on the use of mobile phones following the release of new smart phones equipped with a "flight-safe" mode, which stops the phone from receiving or sending signals which could affect the aircraft. Therefore, the new phones comply with US and other regulations banning mobile phones in flight.
However, the phones cannot be used for talking, sending e-mail or accessing the Internet during the flight.
