A light aircraft crashed during an approach to Australia's Jandakot airport today (11 August).

The Cessna 404 aircraft, which was carrying six people, brushed trees as it was coming in to land at the airport in Perth. The twin-engine aircraft had taken off from the airport but had turned back after encountering difficulties. It is said to have crashed into scrubland, killing one person on board and injuring five others.

A fire is said to have started near the site of the crash. It is unclear whether operations at the airport were affected.
