Japanese firms ask for government funding to help develop new Boeing jet

Three Japanese aircraft manufacturers have reportedly asked for government funding to help with their work on developing the new Boeing 7E7 aircraft.
Fuji Heavy Industries, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are to work with Boeing on the design and building of the jet along with US and Italian manufacturers.
Industrial group Japan Aircraft Development Corp has asked the Japanese government for funding, although the amount requested has not been announced.
The government has indicated that it will provide money if the project contributes to Japan's aviation technology, reported The Associated Press.
