Ghana's international airport was closed on Thursday (21 August) after a military aircraft carrying delegates to Liberia's peace talks collapsed on its wheels as it was attempting to take off.

The 44 passengers and crew members on board the Fokker 27 aircraft were evacuated and some were taken to a nearby clinic for checks. However, there were no reports of any injuries.

The airport was closed while the authorities moved the aircraft from the runway.
