Garuda Indonesia does not expect technician dispute to affect schedule
Airline Industry Information, August 4, 2003
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Garuda Indonesia claims that its services will continue to operate to schedule despite an ongoing dispute with some technicians.
Technicians grouped under the Aircraft Technicians Association (ITPU) are opposed to a decision by the airline to transfer its technicians to PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia (GMFAA). GMFAA is a new subsidiary set up to handle aircraft maintenance so that the carrier can focus on its core business.
The airline had set a 31 July deadline for the technicians to submit transfer applications to GMFAA, however the technicians have reportedly declined to join the group.
