Taiwan's China Airlines has been ordered to pay JPY5bn in compensation over a 1994 aircraft crash which killed 264 people at Nagoya Airport, Japan.
The Japanese court ordered the payout after ruling that the accident was the sole responsibility of the airline, and nothing to do with the aircraft's manufacturer, Airbus.
The accident happened when the Airbus A300-600R aircraft, arriving from Taipei, stalled during a landing attempt and smashed into the runway. China Airlines said that it respected the verdict, but had not decided whether it was going to appeal, reported Reuters.
