Mesaba Airlines pilots' union rejects binding arbitration

The union representing pilots at Mesaba Airlines has reportedly declined binding arbitration.
Leaders of the Mesaba unit of the Air Line Pilots Association called binding arbitration an unacceptable option to settle the dispute. Under the federal Railway Labor Act either the union or management must reject binding arbitration before a strike can occur.
The National Mediation Board is expected to announce an exact strike deadline this week, which will start a 30-day cooling off period before the pilots can strike, The Associated Press reported.
