FAA grants provisional type certification for Embraer 170 aircraft

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted provisional type certification for Embraer's EMBRAER 170 aircraft.
The approval - which follows a similar move in November 2003 by the Brazilian airworthiness authority, Centro Tecnico Aerospacial (CTA) - will enable operators to begin crew training and route proving flights.
Final type certification is expected in early 2004.
