General Electric Co is reportedly planning to submit a bid to supply Malaysian Airlines System (MAS) with engines for new Airbus A380-800 aircraft.
MAS signed an agreement with European aircraft manufacturer Airbus last month to purchase six A380-800 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled from 2007.
The move by GE will challenge British company Rolls-Royce, which is designing the new engine Trent 900 as the launch engine for the A380 aircraft series.
