The Canadian government is to introduce legislation to force domestic airlines to accept passengers with tickets issued by other companies.

Under the proposed legislation, Air Canada and low-cost carrier WestJet Airlines will be obliged to accept passengers with tickets issued by any other carrier in Canada - a practice called interlining.

According to the Transport Minister, the measure is necessary to ensure fair competition in a market dominated by Air Canada, reported Reuters.
