French carrier Air Lib has grounded its aircraft indefinitely after negotiations between the government, the airline's shareholders and Dutch financial group IMAC failed.

Air Lib's operating licence expired yesterday (5 February), forcing the airline to ground all aircraft and leave passengers stranded. Air France and Corsair have reportedly been asked by the government to operate additional flights for the Air Lib passengers.

The fate of the airline - which owes the state about EUR100m - now depends on decisions to be made by its directors and a French commercial court, according to Reuters.
