Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) has signed an agreement with Connexion by Boeing to equip its long-haul aircraft with a broadband mobile information service.

Under the agreement, 11 of the airline's long-haul aircraft will be equipped with the wireless technology which gives airline passengers access the Connexion by Boeing service. The service enables passengers with wireless-enabled laptops or personal electronic devices (PEDs) to access an open wireless local network where they can use two-way e-mail and stream audio and video content.

The installation of the equipment is expected to commence in early 2004. The carrier also has an undisclosed number of options to expand the service to additional aircraft.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
