British Airways has flown a racing pigeon back to the UK from the US after he became lost while flying from France to the UK.
The pigeon, named Billy, was feared dead after he failed to complete a 425-mile flight from northern France to Liverpool, UK. The trip began three weeks ago and should have taken seven or eight hours at a speed of about 50mph. Billy was eventually found some 3,000 miles off course in New York at the home of a pigeon racer.
British Airways flew the pigeon free of charge to Manchester Airport, where he is now undergoing a 31-day quarantine, reported The Associated Press.
