A 39-year-old man was removed from a flight after wartime decorations were discovered in his luggage.

The man, said to be a US Army Sergeant, was scheduled to travel from Khabarovsk, Russia to Seoul, South Korea. However, he was detained when he was found to be carrying four wartime decorations. The man allegedly paid USD200 to purchase the decorations - which included a medal for the defence of Stalingrad - from a souvenir store.

The Sergeant is now facing three to seven years imprisonment under charges of smuggling cultural treasures, according to The Associated Press.
