An Air New Zealand aircraft was forced to abort its flight yesterday morning (18 June) after the oxygen masks dropped.
The aircraft had been travelling on a domestic flight from Auckland to Wellington, with nearly 130 people on board, when it was forced to return to Auckland about 20 minutes after takeoff. The flight was travelling at about 12,000 feet when the oxygen masks descended following an encounter with turbulence.
According to an Air New Zealand spokesperson, a pressurisation controller failed and one of two backup systems was switched on.
