St. Augustine-St. Johns County Airport is to receive a full-length taxiway after obtaining a grant from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The taxiway, which is expected to improve safety, will run parallel to the current 8,000-foot main runway at the airport. Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in September and to be completed within a five- or six-month period.

The funding was acquired through the Airport Improvement Program.
