Singapore Airlines has cut more than 400 jobs today (19 June) as it faces its first-ever quarterly loss.
The airline - which has been affected by the war in Iraq and the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) - laid off 414 Singapore office, airport and engineering staff in the round of layoffs, which covered 1.4% of the airline's 29,000 workers.
Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines is expected to announce cuts to its flight crews in the next few days as its passenger numbers have halved and its capacity has been cut by a third in recent months, reported Reuters.
