American Airlines has submitted proposals on labour cost reductions to the Transport Workers Union (TWU), one of its three main unions.

The airline hopes to make USD620m in annual employee cost reductions for TWU-represented ground and airport workers.

American Airlines said that its proposals for the TWU include a variety of options to achieve the needed cost savings, and provide the framework for collaborative discussions.

The airline's negotiating team was expected to meet with TWU representatives today (4 March) to answer questions, before meeting with the union's negotiating teams.
