Finnair, the Finnish national airline, has cancelled three departures to France today (27 May) due to the French air traffic controllers' strike.

The airline has said that the only departure of the day, at 1810 EET, would be able to accommodate most of the passengers booked on the other flights.

SAS and Braathens also cancelled all departures to and from France due to the strike. The strike started at 0400 CET and is set to end at 2100 CET. During the strike, the air traffic controllers are only allowing a fifth of the normal air traffic in and out of the French airports as a protest against the retirement reform planned by the government.

SAS has said that it cancelled its three daily flights between Oslo, Norway and Paris, while two flights to and from Paris and one to Nice were set to take off from Copenhagen, Denmark.

In Sweden, the strike saw seven out of nine departures from Stockholm to France cancelled while two out of three departures from Gothenburg were cancelled.

SAS reportedly cancelled all air traffic between Stockholm's Arlanda airport and Paris.

SAS has said that the strike was known about well in advance and that most travellers have been redirected.
