Virgin Atlantic to transport cats and dogs under PETS

Airline Industry Information, May 9, 2003

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Virgin Atlantic Airways will begin to transport pets from the US to the UK from mid-May.

Under the UK government's new Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) - which enables cats and dogs to travel from certain countries and enter the UK without quarantine - Virgin will initially fly pets between Los Angeles and London, with plans to extend to all US routes after a three-month period. From January 2004, the scheme will also cover the airline's services to Japan, Antigua and Barbados.

Virgin is also planning to introduce a special 'Pet Miles' section of its Flying Club to reward frequent flying animals.
