The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is planning to make administrative changes intended to make the agency's air traffic services more efficient.

According to the agency, the changes will see the air traffic control system combined with research and acquisition activities into a single air traffic organisation, which will be divided into five business units.

The five business units will be En Route and Oceanic; Terminal; Flight Services; System Operations; and Technical Operations, according to The Associated Press.
