From 1 April 2004 security at Greece's Athens International Airport will be increased in preparation for the 2004 Olympic Games between 13 and 29 August.

The additional security measures will cover the final test events and the start of the tourist season, while full security will be in effect from July onwards, according to the head of the airport's security.

Greece has budgeted USD775m on protecting the games and is receiving advice on fighting terrorism from seven countries, including the US and Israel, reported The Associated Press.
