Health and security provider MedAire has issued some flying recommendations for healthy travel during the holiday season.

The company has recommended that passengers always carry any prescription medications onboard the aircraft and avoid checking them in with luggage; diabetics who need to take a syringe or needle on board must have a pharmacy label on their insulin that includes their name; asthmatics should bring their inhaler and drink one glass of fluid per hour of the flight to keep well hydrated; anyone with chronic heart or lung disease that requires oxygen at home should inform their airline well in advance of travel and people with significant health problems should also notify airline reservations staff.

MedAire also advises passengers to avoid drinking excessive alcohol the night before the flights as it can contribute to dehydration on the body.
