Alitalia's CEO has said that 2005 would be a "reasonable" time for the Italian carrier's entry into the announced merger between Air France and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
The CEO and the carrier chairmen had both previously spoken of spring or early summer 2004 as the target date for entry in the merger, however this target date has now been pushed back.
Air France and KLM want Alitalia to regain financial health and be privatised before it joins the merger, Reuters reported.
