Malaysian budget airline AirAsia is hoping to acquire landing rights to Singapore's Changi Airport by as early as next year.
The airline - which is seeking to enter the Singapore market - would reportedly prefer to obtain landing slots at Singapore's smaller and cheaper Seletar airport, but would be unable to operate at the airport as the runway is too short. The carrier may consider operations at Seletar airport when the runway has been extended.
Meanwhile, the airline is also planning to offer two daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Senai airport in Johor, Malaysia, from 22 October 2003.
