The Air India bombing trial resumed yesterday (14 October) but was briefly paused again as government lawyers and a co-accused lawyer negotiated final details concerning payments.

The trial of two Sikh men accused of the 1985 Air India bombing has been adjourned about four times because of a dispute over who will pay one defendant's lawyers. The trial of Ripudaman Singh Malik and Ajaib Singh Bagri - who face first-degree murder and conspiracy charges for the bombing of Air India flight 192 in June 1985, killing all 327 aboard, and a second explosion which killed two Tokyo airport workers - was adjourned after Malik claimed to have run out of money and lost a bid to have Canadian taxpayers pay for his legal defence.

Final details of an agreement between Malik and the provincial government are currently unknown, reported Reuters.
