Polish regional authorities have reportedly proposed renaming Gdansk's airport after Lech Walesa. The regional assembly announced the proposal to coincide with Walesa's 60th birthday. Walesa won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983 for founding the Soviet bloc's first free trade union and was Poland's first elected president after the 1989 fall of communism.

Delta Air Lines' new SkyWish Charity of the Quarter is March of Dimes. During the fourth quarter of 2003, SkyMiles members can contribute miles to combat serious health problems that infants face, such as prematurity, birth defects and low birth weight. Members may donate miles to the charity via SkyWish through to 31 December 2003. There is a 5,000-mile minimum donation, and the airline will boost each donation by adding 1,000 miles for every 5,000 miles contributed.

Southwest Airlines is offering special military fares available system wide, which are valid for travel from 1 October 2003 through to 7 January 2004. The tickets do require reservations, however no advance purchase is required and the tickets are fully refundable. The fares are valid for active military personnel and their dependents, and standard military identification requirements and policies apply.

Delta Air Lines is to introduce new services at its Salt Lake City hub in its winter schedule, to be launched on 7 January 2004. The airline is planning to offer two new daily flights to Detroit, as well as additional daily flights in 17 markets, and more connecting opportunities within eight connecting banks. The additional flights will be operated by Delta Connection carriers SkyWest and Comair, using Bombardier CRJ regional jet aircraft. The airline's winter schedule will be published on 11 October 2003.
