On 1 December 2003, British Airways will resume direct flights to Islamabad, Pakistan. Flights to Pakistan were suspended in September 2001 due to concerns over security in the region, however the airline's security experts have revealed that a number of additional security measures have been introduced, prompting a resumption of services. British Airways will operate three weekly flights from London's Heathrow airport to Islamabad.

Highland Airways has announced plans to introduce new services between Glasgow, Inverness and the Western Isles of Scotland. From the beginning of November 2003, the airline will introduce the new weekday service with morning and evening flights between Glasgow and Inverness and Glasgow and Benbecula. The services will be flown using a turbo-prop Jetstream 31 aircraft with 18 seats.
