Continental Airlines enters agreement for Blended Winglet technology

Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) has formed an agreement in principle with Continental Airlines to install Blended Winglet technology on 11 Boeing 757-200 aircraft and 11 Boeing 737-800s.

The agreement, which is subject to certain conditions, also includes options for additional Blended Winglets. The winglets in the first order are scheduled to be installed and in service by June 2005.

Blended Winglet technology is expected to provide savings of up to 5% in fuel burn on the Continental Airlines aircraft.

Financial terms of the contract were not provided.

APB is a joint venture between Aviation Partners Inc and Boeing Co.
