UK travel industry warns US against fingerprinting and photographing travellers

The UK travel industry has warned that US plans to fingerprint and photograph travellers on arrival in the US could hurt tourism.
The US introduced a new travel policy last week requiring citizens of 27 nations, including close allies such as the UK and Australia, to be photographed and fingerprinted. The measure will begin by 30 September, and will include two digital index finger scans and a digital photograph.
A spokesperson for the Association of British Travel Agents has said that the new moves will not help to encourage UK citizens to travel to the US, and has strongly urged US authorities to reconsider the plans, reported Reuters.
