US tells Ghana Airways to charter aircraft for stranded passengers

US federal transportation officials have instructed Ghana Airways to stop selling tickets for flights between the US and Ghana after the suspension of the airline's operations.
The US grounded Ghana Airways' aircraft after it allegedly ignored Federal Aviation Administration advice and flew aircraft that were unsafe. The Transportation Department has instructed the airline to charter aircraft to fly stranded passengers home.
The airline flies twice a week between Accra, Ghana and New York and Accra and Washington, reports The Associated Press.
