Two firms chosen to develop anti-missile systems for US commercial aircraft

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The Bush administration has selected teams led by US-based Northrop Grumman Corp and British defence group BAE Systems Plc to develop, build and test competing systems to protect US commercial aircraft from shoulder-fired rockets.

The two companies will each receive around USD45m for the 18-month contracts, according to the US Department of Homeland Security.
