Emirates leads the way in UAE airline boom

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Dubai-based airline Emirates, which carries around half of all air passengers that pass through Dubai annually, has recorded a profit of USD428.96m for the 2004 fiscal year.
The airline carried 8m passengers in the fiscal year and said that it expects to increase its capacity by 26% in 2004.
Airlines in the UAE have enjoyed a successful 12 months, with two new airlines - Etihad Airways and Air Arabia - both enjoying significant growth since being launched in 2003, reports Xinhuanet.
