US safety investigators have said that replacement light bulbs are needed in the luggage hold of Boeing 777 aircraft after a fire warning aboard an Emirates Airlines flight.
A halogen light bulb ignited a passenger's bag during a flight on 28 September 2003 between Dubai and Singapore which forced the aircraft into an emergency landing in Chennai, India.
The US Federal Aviation Administration is to issue a mandatory Boeing service bulletin to operators of the aircraft within six to 12 months advising the use of cooler bulbs in the cargo hold, reports Reuters.
