The president of Canadian carrier WestJet Airlines has apologised to employees and shareholders over the corporate espionage allegations that have dogged the company.

WestJet Airlines has been accused by rival Air Canada of accessing its employee website and looking at confidential seating information between 15 May 2003 and 19 March 2004. Co-founder and vice president of the airline Mark Hill has already resigned over the allegations.

Speaking at a conference call to analysts on 3 August 2004 WestJet president Clive Beddoe said that the ongoing legal battle with Air Canada is unlikely to cause any material damage to the company, reported The Associated Press.
