British Airways has decided to raise the fuel surcharge on its long-haul flights due to the rise in oil prices.

The UK-based carrier is expected to more than double its fuel surcharges on long-haul flights to cover the oil price rise which is expected to cost the airline GBP225m in 2004 alone.

The fuel surcharge for long-haul flights with British Airways is expected to increase from GBP2.50 to GBP6.00 per sector, with short-haul surcharges remaining the same, reports Reuters.
